Last night there was a storm and a power outage. This morning I restarted the computer and was looking through my pictures, and saw that there were weird landscape and travel photos I had never seen before. I thought nothing of it as I was passing through, assuming they were part of the “Sample Pictures” that came pre-loaded on the computer and had somehow got reloaded. Then I saw pictures of a family… at a pumpkin patch… in the snow…. sitting on a piano bench….It’s really weirding me out. How on earth did these get there? Hacked? Some sort of computer mixup during the power outage? I really have no idea!
Then earlier I hopped back on the computer and a message popped up that said something about shared IP addresses. Being the idiot that I am, I saw the title and x-ed out in a matter of seconds. Then wondered if maybe it had something to do with the weird pictures. Now I have no idea how to get the message back.
Usually I’d really think nothing of it… I don’t care that I have a few unwanted photos on my computer. But the fact that all MY pictures could now be on someone elses computer, that’s creeping me out.

How do I fix this? And what is this?!

My friends at www.TravelPapa.com has launched a photo contest “Share Your Travel Kiss”, with $1500 in prizes. The idea is great, and about a hundred of photographers who know about the contest like a chance to win huge money just with a kiss picture. But we want more photographers to participate in the contest and we want more competition as well.
We have tried several times to tell more people about the contest at different forums. But a number of big travel or photo sites do not let us to paste this kind of information at their forums. They consider it as an advertising which is to be paid.
So, the question is: at what popular travel and photo websites can we freely inform traveling photographers (either professional or amateur ones) about the photo kiss contest? Would you share URLs of the sites which are more tolerant to our idea and won’t charge our contest ad?

I’m taking a trip overseas without a laptop/computer and want a way to back-up my photos in the evening. Just in case anything happens to my camera, SD card, etc. I’m bringing multiple SD cards, but want another copy of the picture as backup. How can I transfer pictures from my camera or my SD card to a flash drive or some other external drive system WITHOUT using a computer? I’m leaving the laptop at home and won’t have time to go to an internet cafe, so I need something portable and, hopefully, cheap.

I’m looking to buy a new digital camera to replace my faulty Panasonic FX7. I’d like to get a camera that is user-friendly, but with the option of taking interesting pictures – especially travel photos.
Wide angle cameras a plus.
I’m currently looking at the Canon Ixus 860is. Is it a good camera? or is there a better camera that I can get? Recommendations appreciated. Any brand.
Thanks

My family (11 of us) are traveling to Maui this Christmas. I thought a fun group activity would be to plan a photo scavenger hunt. We would have a bunch of clues that would lead to various locations on the island. Each team would then have to take a picture of that object or monument, or they would take a picture of themselves doing the required task. I have never been to Maui, so I am unfamiliar with all that is around. I need help with what objects or tasks should be photographed. Any ideas?!

I am currently designing a website about a place of interest. I already have the majority of the photos I need for it that I took whilst I was travelling there, but am a couple missing. Is it legal to use a photo from another website if you provide a reference for it and a link of where I took the photo from, or is this classed as copyright enfringement?
I don’t need any pictures of people, it is more scenery pictures and hotel pictures.
Any advice would be a great help.

are you bored or interested? What makes interesting travel photos to you?
I don’t like when people hold me hostage flipping through 30-lb albums of pictures that all look the same!

I am trying to add photos to my travelogue on yahoo (travel.yahoo.com/trip) but I have already reached my maximum on uploaded pictures from Flickr. I have all of my photos posted in an online album that accepts outside referencing, and I suppose I could upload all of them to photobucket, but I have no idea how to make them show in my yahoo travelogue. Is there a way to edit the HTML code?
